Event Overview
The Hibiscus Half Marathon returns for its 18th annual edition in Honolulu. This multi-distance event offers participants a chance to run through prominent areas of Waikiki. The course is designed to start and end at Kapiolani Park, located at the Diamond Head end of the Waikiki district.
Distances and Course Information
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 15K
- 5 miler (8 km)
The event organizers recommend that participants who maintain a walking pace of 17 minutes per mile or slower opt for the 15K course. This recommendation is provided to ensure runner safety and the recording of an official finishing time before the finish line closes. The finish line services conclude promptly at 9:30 am for all distances.
Logistics and Timing
Packet pickup takes place over two days prior to the event at the Alohilani Resort on Kalakaua Avenue. Participants are encouraged to use parking facilities at the local zoo or Kapiolani Park and walk to the resort. While registrations include an event t-shirt, sizes are only guaranteed for those who register by mid-May and collect their items during the scheduled packet pickup window.
The event utilizes chip timing provided by Pacific Sport Events. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers across eight different divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
