HEROES 5K Run - Fun Walk & Pancake Breakfast
The event is organised by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 321 in Huntersville and takes place on Saturday, May 16, 2026 (Armed Forces Day). The programme includes a 5k Timed Run, a 5k Non-Timed Run/Walk, a Phantom Runner option, and a Defender Sponsorship Runner that includes the sponsor's name on an event banner.
Registration and packet pickup open on race morning. A donation pancake breakfast will be available after the event. Veterans, active military, and students may use the coupon code HEROES to receive a five dollar discount.
All proceeds benefit PTSD and recreational programs at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina. Timed awards are given for male and female divisions in each listed age category with first and second place recognitions across age groups from 9 to 14 through 70 and over.
The event location is 107 Main Street, Huntersville, NC 28078. Parking is available from the Maxwell entrance with spaces on the south and north sides of the building and a grassy area to the north offered on a first come first serve basis; the grassy area may be muddy after rain and overflow parking is marked.
