Event Overview
The HEROES 5K Run includes a family fun walk and pancake breakfast. It takes place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, which is Armed Forces Day. The event is organized by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 321 in Huntersville.

Participants can register for one of several events:
- 5k Timed Run
- 5k Non-Timed Run/Walk
- Phantom Runner
- Defender Sponsorship Runner (includes name on banner)
Location & Logistics
The event is held at 107 Main Street in Huntersville, North Carolina. Parking is available at the post, accessible from Maxwell, on the south and north sides of the building and in a grassy area to the north. Overflow parking is marked on an available map.
A pancake breakfast is available by donation for participants to enjoy after finishing. An awards ceremony follows the main events. A course map for the 5k is available for download.
Pricing & Registration
Veterans, active military personnel, and students can use the coupon code HEROES for a $5 discount. Standard registration for the 5k Timed Run and 5k Non-Timed Run/Walk is $30, increasing after March 31, 2026. A Phantom Runner entry is $25, and a Defender Sponsorship Runner entry is $100.

All proceeds from the event benefit PTSD and recreational programs at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
