Registration and entry

Registration opens December 17, 2025. Price tiers and deadlines listed by the organizer include a priority deadline on March 1, an early bird deadline on March 30, and a regular registration deadline with a t-shirt guarantee on April 25. Virtual registration carries an additional fee and includes t-shirt shipping. Packet pickup is available prior to the race at Congressional Cemetery; packet mailing is available for an added charge. An add-on registration for dogs is available for a fee and includes a Hero Dogs bandana. Only Hero Dogs are permitted at the in-person event; other registered dogs may receive the bandana but will not be allowed at Congressional Cemetery on race day.

Course and awards

The 5K course is described as flat and USATF certified, with start and finish inside the cemetery and an out-and-back on the adjoining Anacostia Trail. Water is provided at the start/finish area and at a halfway water stop. Awards include top overall male and female, age-group top finishers, best race day outfit, and top event fundraiser.
