5K and 10K participants receive a race kit that includes a choice of a fascinator and a purse or a top hat, plus a finisher medal offered in multiple colours. The 1K includes a finisher medal. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K. The 1K is not chip timed; the 5K and 10K use chip timing with results available via SpeedRiverTiming.com.
The event raises funds for the Army Cadet League in support of RHLI Cadets 62 RHLI RCACC and will collect non perishable food items for Hamilton Food Share. Registration fees vary by event; the 1K registration requires a $5 fee plus a $25 donation to the cadets. A $5 age discount is offered for youth 16 and under and for seniors 65 and older on the 5K and 10K.
If the in person event cannot proceed, it will be switched to a virtual race and no refunds will be issued; race kits will still be provided. Race kit pickup is scheduled on two days before the event and on event day at local locations. An optional 30 minute guided tour of HMCS Haida is available to participants for a separate fee, requires pre registration, and includes access to the ship via ladders which may not be suitable for all visitors; minors must be accompanied.
