Heart of Wales Line (HOWL) Trail

The Heart of Wales Line (HOWL) Trail is a fully supported trail running event held on Saturday 29 May 2027. The race follows the Heart of Wales Trail between Llandrindod Wells and Craven Arms and highlights local communities and railway heritage along the route.

The trail follows sections of the Heart of Wales Line Trail, a waymarked long-distance walking and running route that runs between railway stations. The trail opened in spring 2019 and passes through Shropshire, Powys, Carmarthenshire, Brecon Beacons National Park, and the City and County of Swansea. The route is marked by roundels, finger posts and signs that use a viaduct logo.

For its inaugural hosting in May 2027 the event offers three supported distances. Entries for the event open on 1 June 2026. The event uses the established waymarking and the line of railway stations as navigational reference points. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
