Heart of Wales Line (HOWL) Trail
The Heart of Wales Line (HOWL) Trail run follows the Heart of Wales Line between railway stations, running from Llandrindod Wells to Craven Arms. The walking and running route opened in Spring 2019 and passes through Shropshire, Powys, Carmarthenshire, Brecon Beacons National Park, and the City and County of Swansea.
The event is the inaugural hosting of this race and is scheduled for Saturday 29 May 2027. Entries open 1 June 2026. For the inaugural event there are three distance options.
- 50 miles
- 26 miles
- 16 miles
The route is way-marked using roundels, finger posts and signs that display a distinctive viaduct logo. The description identifies the event as a series of trail distances that follow the established Heart of Wales Line way-marking and rail-linked route across the listed counties and national park.
