Midwinter Mortimer Trail
The Midwinter Mortimer Trail takes place on Sunday 27th December 2026 along the Mortimer Trail in the Marches, the borderland country of England and Wales. The event runs between the historic market towns of Ludlow in Shropshire and Kington in Herefordshire and moves across ridges, hills and valleys with extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures.
Two race options follow the Mortimer Trail route:
- MMT(W) Ultra: around 30 miles, multi-terrain, starts at Ludlow Castle
- MMT(W) Croft Half: follows the last half of the Ultra, starts at Riverside Inn, Aymestrey
The course combines trail, forest and sections of road through areas associated with the medieval Mortimer family. Entries open 1st June. The Midwinter event is presented as the sister event to the Midsummer Mortimer Trail and uses the same general corridor of paths and lanes between Ludlow and Kington.
