Midwinter Mortimer Trail
The Midwinter Mortimer Trail is a winter trail running event held on Sunday 27th December 2026 along the Mortimer Trail between the market towns of Ludlow, Shropshire and Kington, Herefordshire. It is the sister event to the Midsummer Mortimer Trail and follows the historic route through the Marches.
The event offers mixed terrain running on trails, through forests and on some roads. The route passes ridges, hills, valleys, extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures in an area once dominated in medieval times by the Mortimer family. The Ultra route starts at Ludlow Castle and follows the Mortimer Trail toward Kington. The shorter option follows the final half of the Ultra route and starts at the Riverside Inn in Aymestrey.
