Heart of Virginia Festival 10K & 5K Run

The event takes place on September 12, 2026, at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail in Farmville, Virginia (311 Main Street, Farmville, VA 23901). It includes in-person, virtual, and hand cycle options.

• 5K Hand Cycle (3.1 Miles)

Both the 5K and 10K use an out-and-back course toward the old Farmville train station. The grade is relatively flat and the surface is fine, crushed gravel. Timing and scoring are provided for the 10K; 5K runners and walkers are ranked together. Medals are presented to the top three overall men and women and to top finishers in age categories for the in-person 5K and 10K. There are no awards for virtual events. Age categories include 18 & under, 19 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69, and 70 & over.

Registration opens April 14, 2026. Early registration through August 31 is $25; fees increase to $30 for September 1-10 and $35 for September 11-12. Packet pickup is Friday, September 11, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Farmville Parks and Recreation Department Office, 124 South Street, and Saturday, September 12, 7:30 am - 8:15 am at Main Street Plaza. T-shirts are guaranteed for those registered by September 1. A USPS Priority shipping option is available for an additional $10 with a September 3 deadline for arrival by virtual race weekend. Virtual participants must complete their distance and upload results between September 11 and September 13 via the RunSignUp results page.

Participants must complete the distance they registered for; completing a different distance during the event may result in disqualification. Recommended parking is the Depot Street municipal parking lot across from the start/finish at the intersection of Depot Street and North Main.
