Event overview

Healthy Strides 5K/10K takes place at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia on May 2, 2026. The event includes a 5K, a 10K trail run, and a Tot/Kids Dash for children. The 5K follows a tree-lined, paved road through the park and is wheelchair and stroller accessible. The 10K is a 6.2-mile wooded trail that circles the lake; 10K participants must be able to maintain faster than a 17-minute mile and meet the event cutoff. The event is rain-or-shine and non-refundable.

Registration and packet pickup

Online registration closes on March 31. Total field is limited to 550 participants. Registration fees for the 5K and 10K are $35 for the early window and $40 for the later window; Tot/Kids Dash fees are $15 and $20 for the two windows respectively. Registrations are non-refundable. Packet pick-up is available the day before at the Burke Lake Park Ice Cream Parlor and on race day at the park; registrants receive a reusable grocery tote at packet pick-up. Ladies' shirt sizes are fitted and run small; size changes are limited after packet pick-up closes.

Logistics, timing and awards

Park roads will be closed to traffic during the race and race participant parking in Shelter A lot is prohibited; parking staff will direct vehicles to open lots. ADA-accessible participant drop-off is available with prior notice. Timing is managed with ChronoTrack B disposable tags and results are posted by the event timing provider. All finishers receive a commemorative medal. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers in each distance and to the top three male and female finishers in standard age groups from 19 & under through 70 & over.
