Healthy Strides 5K 10K (May 2, 2026)

Healthy Strides 5K 10K takes place at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, VA. The event is organized by the Fairfax County Park Authority and includes a timed 5K, a 10K trail run, and a Tot/Kids Dash. The event is limited to 550 participants. Online registration closes on March 31 and may close earlier if the event sells out. There is no late registration during packet pick-up or on race day.

Events and courses

  • 5K - tree-lined, paved road through the park; wheelchair and stroller accessible.
  • 10K - 6.2-mile wooded trail that circles the lake; the course is USATF certified.
  • Tot/Kids Dash - short dash for children in age categories 2-5 and 6-10; created for children of race participants and 5K participants' kids.

Tots/Kids Dash participants do not receive a timing chip; children must register for the 5K to be officially timed. Roads will remain closed to traffic until it is safe for all runners; children and their family and friends must wait until the races are over before leaving the park.

Registration, packet pick-up and fees

Packet pick-up opens the day before the race at the Burke Lake Park Ice Cream Parlor; registrants receive a reusable grocery tote at packet pick-up. Entry fees for the 5K/10K are tiered: $35 (Nov 1–Dec 31) and $40 (Jan 1–Mar 31). Tot/Kids Dash fees are $15 (Nov 1–Dec 31) and $20 (Jan 1–Mar 31). Ladies' shirts are fitted and run small; size changes are limited after packet pick-up closes.

Timing, awards and logistics

The event is professionally timed using the ChronoTrack B disposable tag system and results are posted by the timing company. All finishers receive a commemorative finisher medal. Awards are given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers in each race and to the top 3 male and female finishers in these age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over. Expect a short walk from parking to the start area; parking staff will direct vehicles to open lots. The event is rain-or-shine and registration fees are non-refundable.
