Headless Horseman Fun Run & 5K - Frederick
The Headless Horseman Fun Run and 5K is a Halloween-themed running event presented by the West Frederick Middle and Frederick High School PTSAs with support from Steeple Chasers. The event offers timed 5K competition with chipped bibs and a family-oriented 1K fun run that starts and finishes at the bandshell in Baker Park.

- 1K Fun Run within Baker Park
- 5K course through Baker Park and surrounding neighborhoods
Costumes are encouraged and there will be multiple costume contest categories including Best Overall, Scariest, Funniest, Most Creative, Best Headless Horseman Sleepy Hollow, Best Family or Group, and Best Kids Costume. The event will include candy distribution and a shoe drive collecting gently used running shoes for the Stride Forward Youth Program, a student-run nonprofit that donates shoes to underserved cross country and track and field programs.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Saturday, 10/24 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in front of Frederick High School, with additional pickup available on race day beginning at 7:30 a.m. Registration fees vary by event and age division. Proceeds will be divided equally to benefit West Frederick Middle and Frederick High School communities to support student activities or teacher grants.
