Headless Horseman BYU : Laingsburg, Michigan
Headless Horseman BYU takes place on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Sleepy Hollow State Park in Laingsburg, Michigan. The course is a 4.167 mile loop that passes through prairie grass fields, hardwood forest, stands of pine trees, and follows a river winding through the woods. The park covers over 2,600 acres and the loop has approximately 151 ft of elevation gain.
The event offers two formats: a single lap around the BYU course and a 12 hour Back Yard Ultra that uses the same loop. The 12 hour format follows last man standing rules: runners start each lap at the top of the hour and must complete the loop within the hour; if a runner does not start at the top of the hour they are out. Completing the full 12 hours is listed as 50 miles. A headlamp is required for the final laps after sunset.
Timing and race services include chip timing with live results. Packet pickup is available on race morning. There will be no aid stations on the course; one aid station will be located near the start/finish with snacks and drinks. Race entries include event swag such as a T shirt, patch, and sticker; 12 hour finishers receive an additional Headless Horseman finisher gift. Awards and age group prizes are specified for overall and age group placings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
