HBCU STEM Education Run - Raleigh
The HBCU STEM Education Run (STEMER) is a fitness event held in Raleigh, North Carolina, designed to raise funds and awareness for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. The proceeds from the event support scholarships and career resources for black individuals attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The event focuses on improving representation and accessibility within STEM fields for minority groups.
The event features two different distance options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk
Participants in the 5K event receive an official race t-shirt, a virtual four-week training program, a swag bag with a raffle ticket, and a runner's bib. The 1 Mile option is a shorter course intended for families and children, with registration including a swag bag and a runner's bib. Commemorative medals are available for both events as an optional add-on.
The run is an untimed event held at 701 Palmer Drive. Participants may take part individually or form teams with friends and family. Both dogs and strollers are permitted on the course. Specialized awards are provided for the first-place male and female finishers in the 5K category. Following the conclusion of the runs, the program includes an award ceremony and a presentation of scholarships. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
