Route, navigation and support
The full route starts at Okehampton, passes through Postbridge and finishes in Ivybridge. Notable sections include the East Okement valley, Hangingstone Hill, the East Dart valley, Bellever Tor, West Dart stepping stones, Ryder’s Hill, a clapper bridge over the upper Avon river, the Dartmoor Volcano and views along the Erme valley out to sea. The 30 km option follows the same course from Postbridge to the finish.
Maps can be downloaded for the Outdoor Active app; use alongside OL 28 Dartmoor (1:25,000) or BMC Dartmoor (1:40,000) maps. A GPX file is available. Checkpoints with refreshment are at Postbridge and Combestone Tor. Both events finish at Ivybridge Community College where a finisher memento, food and drink are provided. Qualified Mountain Leaders act as mobile marshals and assist with route choice. Cut off times at the final checkpoint are generous and coach shuttle and end-of-event transport are available; under 18s may take part when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
