Event overview
Dartmoor In A Day is a supported cross‑Dartmoor event held on 5 September 2026. It offers two course options:
- 50 km (Ultra) - approximately 50 km / 30 miles, almost entirely off road
- 30 km (Challenge) - starts at Postbridge and follows the remainder of the 50 km route
Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance. Entry includes GPS tracker hire. Entries open 10 October 2025 and close 27 August 2026.
Route and logistics
The route starts at Okehampton, passes through Postbridge and finishes at Ivybridge Community College. Key points on the route include the East Okement valley, Hangingstone Hill, the East Dart valley, Bellever Tor, West Dart stepping stones, Ryder’s Hill, a clapper bridge over the upper Avon river, the Dartmoor Volcano and views along the Erme valley and out to sea. The course is mainly across wild, open moor.
Maps can be used with the Outdoor Active app; OL 28 Dartmoor (1:25,000) or BMC Dartmoor (1:40,000) maps are recommended. A GPX file will be available. Qualified Mountain Leaders provide mobile marshal support, navigation assistance and first aid cover on remote sections. Refreshment checkpoints are at Postbridge and Combestone Tor. Both courses finish at Ivybridge Community College where participants collect a finishers memento and food and drink are available. An optional coach shuttle to the start is offered.
