Route and support
The main route starts at Okehampton, passes through Postbridge and finishes at Ivybridge Community College. The 30 km option starts at Postbridge and follows the remainder of the 50 km route. The course is approximately 50 km (30 miles) and is almost entirely off road, mainly across wild, open moor.
Notable features on the route include the East Okement valley, Hangingstone Hill, the East Dart valley, Bellever Tor, West Dart stepping stones, Ryder’s Hill, a clapper bridge over the upper Avon river, the Dartmoor Volcano and views along the Erme valley out to sea. Checkpoints with refreshments are located at Postbridge and Combestone Tor. Maps and a GPX file are provided for navigation; organisers recommend carrying detailed paper maps as well. Qualified Mountain Leaders act as mobile marshals, assist with route choice and provide first aid cover in remote areas. An optional coach shuttle to the start and transport from the finish area are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
