Event

The Ranger Ultras PB230km Trail Challenge is a multi-day trail running event held from 16 to 19 April 2026. The event covers 230 km (143 miles) with a total ascent of 6162 metres and a time allowance of 75 hours. Minimum entry age is 20 and entries are limited to 30 participants. Entry fees are listed as £358 (affiliated) and £360 (unaffiliated). Entries close 6 April 2026.

Course and checkpoints

The route follows the Pennine Bridleway and nearby upland alternatives, passing through the Peak District, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire moors and finishing in Cumbria. The course is described as a mix of fast trails, technical ascents and established rights of way. The event is divided into three main sections:

  • Edale to Hebden Bridge : 93 km, ascent 2897 m
  • Hebden Bridge to Settle : 69 km, ascent 1685 m
  • Settle to Kirkby Stephen : 68 km, ascent 1580 m

Two indoor checkpoints provide hot food, sleeping space and access to drop bags. Checkpoints have a maximum allowed stay of eight hours. The finish includes sleeping space and a hostel-style venue.

Logistics and services

Participants receive GPX files and course notes. Ranger Safety Team support is provided on course with water refill points and at checkpoints. Indoor checkpoints and the finish offer hot meals, hot drinks and showers. Finishers receive eco-medals and trophies for overall and age-category winners.
