Peak District Birthday Bash
The Peak District Birthday Bash is an endurance event based in Castleton that celebrates the anniversary of the formation of the Peak District National Park. The course takes participants through the varied landscapes of the central Peak District, starting and finishing at the Peveril Centre on Buxton Road. The event is open to both runners and hikers, with specific options for walkers across two different distances.
Participants can choose between two main course lengths:
- 70 km (Full Bash): A 43.5-mile route open to individuals aged 20 years or older.
- 35 km (Half Bash): A 22.75-mile route open to individuals aged 18 years or older.
The event features a staggered format with different start types. There are early start options available for those who wish to walk or run at a non-competitive pace. For participants who want to be eligible for podium awards, a competitive mass start is provided for both distance categories.
The event supports conservation and engagement projects through the Peak District National Park Foundation. Registration is managed through an online system, and participants have the option to include entry protection for unforeseen circumstances. The local terrain includes various natural landscapes characteristic of the central Peak District region. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
