Event Overview
The Hawthorn Half Day Relay & Ultra is an endurance event that takes place in Terre Haute, Indiana. The event was established in 2006 and the 2026 edition marks its 20th anniversary. Participants choose between a 6-hour or a 12-hour format.
Events and Course
The event offers several categories. For the 12-hour duration, options include solo runners, 2-person teams, and teams of 3-6 people. For the 6-hour duration, there are solo runners and 3-person teams. Separate 6-hour and 12-hour walking categories are also available. The course is a 5-kilometer loop that combines trail and road surfaces. During the final 30 minutes of the race, a half-mile short course is available for participants to complete additional laps.
On-Site Facilities
Each loop passes through a central "Runners Village," where participants have a designated space for a tent, crew, and gear. A Race Headquarters station provides cold drinks and snacks. Optional camping is available in campgrounds along the course, which include restrooms and water stations.
Additional Features
The event provides live online tracking, professional race photography, and a post-race party with awards. Finisher medals are awarded, and food includes a baked potato bar and pie. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
