Hawg Run
Hawg Run is a community running event held on 10/24/2026 at J. Smith Young YMCA, 119 West 3rd Avenue, Lexington, NC. The event features a 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk that begins and finishes at the YMCA parking lot and follows neighborhood streets to Grimes Park before returning to the Y. The course uses streets including West 3rd Avenue, West 4th Avenue, Park Street, Williams Street, Williams Circle, Chestnut Street and includes one lap around the track inside Grimes Park, plus laps around the Westover circle as described by the organizer.
Registration opens 03/03/2026 and there is a stated registration fee of $25.00 for the 5K. Pre-registered entries received before 09/28 include an official Hawg Run T-shirt; shirts are not guaranteed for entries after that date. Same-day registration will be located in the YMCA parking lot. Because the run takes place on festival morning, many nearby parking lots will charge about $5.00 and participants should expect limited parking and traffic detours.
Proceeds from the Hawg Run are used to provide scholarships for after school programs, summer camp, youth sports, swim lessons and YMCA memberships for children and families in the local community. The run is scheduled during the 41st Annual Barbecue Festival and coincides with Barbecue Month. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
