Turkey Strut 5K
The Turkey Strut 5K is in its 19th year at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. The event offers both in-person and virtual options for a 5K and a 1-mile fun run/walk.

The 5K is a USATF certified course and is chip timed. The 1-mile fun run is not chip timed, but a clock is displayed at the finish line. The course runs near BB&T Field/Stadium, Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and the Deacon baseball field stadium. The fairgrounds offer plenty of parking.
Virtual participants may complete their distance from Thanksgiving Day through the following Sunday; submitting results is optional. Virtual registration includes a long-sleeve shirt and a finisher medal; items can be picked up at packet pick up on Wednesday or mailed with an add-on. Virtual finishers can download a race bib and a finisher certificate after finishing.
The event benefits the We Care House of Winston-Salem. Participants are asked to bring at least three canned food items for the food bank; breakfast items such as grits, pancake mix, syrup, and oatmeal are especially needed. Strollers and leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome. Scooters, bikes, and wheeled recreational vehicles are not allowed on course.
Awards include turkeys for the Top 3 Overall Male and Female and Top 3 Overall Masters Male and Female. All 5K participants receive long-sleeve T-shirts; 1-mile participants may purchase a shirt during registration. Finisher medals are provided to every participant in both events.
