Haunted Oak 5K
The Haunted Oak 5K is a themed running event held at the Old Oak Country Club in Homer Glen, Illinois. The course takes participants through a setting featuring haunted elements and actors dressed as zombies. Runners have the option to interact with these characters, testing their speed and endurance while navigating the route.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 5 km
- Kids Fun Run
This is an officially timed competition. Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, and a costume awards ceremony takes place after the main race. Recognition is provided for the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5 km, alongside specific prizes for various costume categories such as Best Couple, Creepy Superhero, Best Little Terror, and Drop Dead Beauty.
All participants receive a medal upon completion. The first 200 individuals to pre-register are also provided with a limited edition event gift. Following the race, a cash bar is available at the venue offering various beverages. Proceeds from the event support international health and education programs through The Rotary Foundation, local charitable projects for schools and shelters, and community health initiatives.
