Haunted Halloween Hustle
The Haunted Halloween Hustle is a Halloween-themed set of races held at Abshire Park in Goshen, IN, using the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail. The event offers multiple distances on a traffic-protected trail with out-and-back courses that start and finish at Abshire Park.
Distances
- Monster Mash Mile (walk, not timed)
- Frightening 5K
- Terrifying 10K
- Haunted Half Marathon
Courses run out and back on the Pumpkinvine Trail. There are a few road crossings where police will stop traffic. The layout allows participants to see others on the course.
There is no runner parking at Abshire Park. Multiple churches, businesses and a small nearby park provide parking within a few blocks; parking volunteers will direct vehicles. Early-morning packet pickup can occur in very low light, so a small flashlight is recommended.
All paid participants receive a finisher medal with their distance on the lanyard. Long sleeve shirts are optional for an additional fee. Top three overall male and female finishers receive awards in each race and age-group awards are offered in 15 standard age groups. The Monster Mile does not have age-group awards.
Dogs are allowed if trained for the distance, current on shots, experienced with crowds, and kept on a lead that does not impede others. Dogs must be registered free at packet pickup and will receive a bandana.
All proceeds benefit the Elkhart County Down Syndrome Support Group, a local organization of about 70 families that offers monthly gatherings, shared resources and scholarships for activities such as therapeutic riding. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
