Haunted Halloween Hustle
The Haunted Halloween Hustle is based at Abshire Park Pavilion in Goshen, Indiana, and uses the paved Pumpkinvine trail for all courses. The trail is lined with mature trees and the courses are out-and-back, so participants follow a single marked route without turns. The path is separated from traffic for most of the route; a few crossroads will be managed by police and volunteers. Portable toilets are available along the course.
Distances offered:
- Monster Mile - 1 mile (walking only, not timed)
- Frightening 5K - 3.1 miles
- Terrible 10K - 6.2 miles
- Haunted Half Marathon - 13.1 miles
All participants receive a finisher medal. Overall top three male and female finishers and age-group awards are given in the 5K, 10K, and half marathon. The Monster Mile is not timed but includes a finisher medal with a custom lanyard. Costume awards are presented in eight categories including cutest, best duo or group, most creative, best homemade, most spooky, funny, storybook or fairy tale, and superhero or villain.
An earlier start option called Dawn Patrol is available for half marathon entrants; those who choose it must indicate that during registration or at check-in and follow the designated manual-start procedure. Shirts are optional for an additional cost and vintage performance shirts will be offered onsite for a small fee. The event supports local Down Syndrome families and the Community 321 group home project. Spectators and volunteers help with direction, water stations, and safety.
