Run Through the Scream Park
The Haunt Park 5K at the Kalamazoo Speedway introduces a new way to experience West Michigan's haunted scream park. This inaugural running event takes place on the grounds of a venue that has operated four unique haunted attractions for over two decades. The course provides participants with a preliminary look at the various themed areas before the park officially opens its doors for the night.
The race is a 5K distance and utilizes electronic chip timing to track participant results. The starting line is located in the Psycho Ward section of the venue. Because of the nature of the haunted attractions and the themes present throughout the park, the organizers indicate that this event may not be suitable for children.
Registered participants receive several commemorative items, including a haunted-themed race bib and a finisher medal. Those who complete their registration by the specific September deadline are also provided with an event shirt. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, along with recognition for top finishers within various age groups.
Following the race, participants, volunteers, and spectators have the option to purchase discounted access to the four haunted houses on-site. These attractions begin operation shortly after the conclusion of the run, allowing attendees to transition from the race course to the scream park experience.
