Blacka Moor Chase : event details
The Blacka Moor Chase is a trail race held on 17 July 2025 and organised by Totley AC. The advertised distance is 6.7 km with total climb of approximately 270 m. Entry is limited to 250 runners, with a minimum age of 18. Entry fees are listed as £7 for pre-entry, with entry on the day allowed if the race is not full. The event is listed in FRA race category BS.
Course, rules and facilities
The race starts and finishes at the Totley AC pavilion, behind the Cricket Inn, and follows public rights of way around Blacka Moor and Totley Moor. The route includes a 1 km tarmac stretch along Strawberry Lee Lane, a short steep climb onto the moor, open fields, steep technical descents through Blacka Moor Wood including the Piper Gate, and a return along Strawberry Lee Lane. Runners are required to follow the marked route and pass checkpoints in sequence; failure to follow the route may lead to disqualification under the race license. The organiser may perform kit inspections and asks runners to carry FRA best practice kit in poor weather. Facilities at the pavilion include toilets, showers and changing rooms. Parking is very limited. Prizes are awarded for top 3 male and female, first Totley runner, and several age-group categories. Dogs are not permitted on the course.
