Course and safety

The route starts and finishes at the Totley AC pavilion on the cricket pitch and is entirely on public rights of way. The course includes a 1 km tarmac stretch along Strawberry Lee Lane, a climb onto Totley Moor, routes over fields to Blacka Moor Woods, a steep technical descent known as Piper Gate, stepping stones, and a fast return to the pitch. Exposed tree roots are present on paths through Blacka Moor wood. The race is a fixed route under the event licence and is held under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules.

Entry, kit and facilities

Entries are limited and pre-entry is required. The race has a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance via the FRA. Facilities at the pavilion include toilets, showers and changing rooms. Parking is very limited; car sharing and public transport are recommended. Mandatory kit requirements follow FRA best-practice and may be checked on race day.
