Blacka Moor Chase trail race
Blacka Moor Chase is a fell and trail race organised by Totley AC and held at the Totley AC pavilion, Lane Head Road, Sheffield S17 3AZ on 16 July 2026. The course is approximately 6.7 km with around 270 m of climb and forms the fourth race in the Totley AC five-race series. Entry is limited to 250 runners, minimum age 18, and the entry fee is £8 for pre-entry; entry on the day is possible if the race is not full.
The route starts and finishes outside the pavilion. A lap of the field leads onto about 1 km of tarmac along Strawberry Lee Lane before a short sharp climb up onto Totley Moor and across fields to the top of Blacka Moor Woods. The descent follows technical paths and tracks including the very steep Piper Gate, with exposed tree roots on the woodland sections and stepping stones on the route. The course is entirely on public rights of way and does not cross any main road.
Facilities at the pavilion include toilets, showers and changing rooms; water is available but runners should bring their own cup or bottle. Parking is very limited; organisers encourage car sharing and use of public transport. Checkpoints are indicated on the map and marshals will be present where resources allow. The race is licensed as a fixed route; runners must follow the route and pass checkpoints in sequence.
FRA Best Practice kit may be required depending on weather and mandatory kit inspections can be carried out on race day. Race numbers must be worn visibly; failure to carry required kit or to follow route and numbering rules can lead to disqualification. Dogs are not permitted on the course. Prizes are presented inside the bar area and include awards for the top three male and female finishers, first Totley runner, age-group prizes and spot prizes.
