Harwich Triathlon 2026
Harwich Triathlon takes place on the coastal peninsula at the Essex-Suffolk border and is scheduled as a full weekend of racing. The event has been held since 2004 and is described as well established with a friendly, supportive atmosphere. It offers both sea swim and pool swim options and includes events for participants aged 8 and above.
Distances for the main events:
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500m sea swim, 40km bike, 10km run.
- Olympic Relay: same distances; relays require a minimum of two participants.
- Sprint Triathlon: 300m pool swim, 24km bike, 5km run.
- Junior Under 9: 50m pool swim, 1km cycle, 600m run.
- Junior 9 to 12: 150m pool swim, 2km cycle, 1.2km run.
- Junior 13 to 15: 150m pool swim, 3km cycle, 2.4km run.
Race headquarters and transition areas are at the Oval Shelter near the boating lake on Harwich promenade for the Olympic events and adjacent to Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles Pool for the sprint and junior races. Olympic and relay events use rolling starts in waves of ten, organised by predicted swim time; the sprint uses a rolling start with women first then men. Junior entries are for ages based on age as of 31 December 2026. Juniors must use a road worthy bike without stabilisers and wear a helmet. Medals are awarded to all junior finishers.
