Harwich Triathlon 2026
The Harwich Triathlon is an established multi-sport event that has been held since 2004. Located on the coastal peninsula of the Essex-Suffolk border, the event spans a full weekend and provides a variety of course distances and formats. The race headquarters and transition areas are situated along the Harwich promenade and at the Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles pool.
Participants can choose from several event categories depending on their age and preference:
- Olympic Triathlon: A 1500m sea swim across the bay, a 40km cycle through the countryside, and a 10km flat run along the promenade.
- Olympic Relay: The same distances as the Olympic race, completed by teams of two or three people.
- Sprint Triathlon: A 300m pool swim followed by a 24km cycle and a 5km run on the promenade.
- Junior Triathlon: Age-specific distances for those aged 8-15, featuring a pool swim and grass-based cycling and running.
The run courses follow the Harwich promenade, offering coastal views and a flat surface. Junior participants must use their own road-worthy bicycles and helmets, as all sections of the race must be completed without assistance. The swimming portions vary between sea and pool options depending on the chosen distance. Finisher medals are awarded to all participants upon completion of their race.
