Overview
Harwich Triathlon 2026 is a two-day event on 13-14 June 2026 based on the coastal peninsula at the Essex-Suffolk border. The event has been held since 2004 and includes sea swim and pool swim options. Race headquarters and transition areas are located on Harwich promenade at the Oval Shelter near the boating lake and at Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles Pool, Low Road, CO12 3TA. Entries close 14 June 2026 and the event status is open.
Race formats and distances
The weekend features multiple race formats:
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500 m sea swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run along Harwich promenade.
- Olympic Relay: same distances as the Olympic Triathlon; relays require a minimum of 2 participants.
- Sprint Triathlon: 300 m pool swim, 24 km bike, 5 km run along Harwich promenade.
- Junior Triathlon: pool swim, cycle on grass, run on grass for ages 8-15.
Junior distances by age group:
- Under 9: 50 m swim, 1 km cycle, 600 m run.
- Aged 9-12: 150 m swim, 2 km cycle, 1.2 km run.
- Aged 13-15: 150 m swim, 3 km cycle, 2.4 km run.
Juniors must have a road-worthy bike (no stabilisers) and complete all sections unassisted. Medals are awarded to all finishers. A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for non-members; costs are specified by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
