B-rrry Scurry 4-Mile Run
The B-rrry Scurry is a four-mile road race hosted by Clinton Community College in Clinton, Iowa. The event is held in winter and is described as a generally flat and fast road course that has drawn hundreds of participants each year and has been a community tradition for more than four decades.
Proceeds support student scholarships through the Paul B. Sharar Foundation B-rrry Scurry scholarships; since 1981 the program has awarded over $120,000 in scholarships. Race organizers maintain a history of published results and post annual race outcomes.
Registration is offered both online through the event platform and in person at the CCC Main Campus front desk at 1000 Lincoln Blvd. Registered participants receive an official long sleeve TECH shirt, have their name and race results listed in the local newspaper, and are eligible for door prizes and free refreshments.
The event uses age divisions for competition, with 15 categories for men and women and a special division for participants age 80 and above. Medallions featuring the B-rrry Bear mascot are awarded within each age division. The race also participates in the Mississippi River Challenge, a free recognition earned by completing three specified Clinton races across the year; medals are issued only to those who finish all three.
The event typically proceeds in winter conditions; organizers note past race day temperatures ranging from 35 degrees below zero to 60 degrees above zero and may adjust plans for extreme or dangerous weather. The volunteer base commonly exceeds 100 people. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
