45th Annual YMCA Harrisburg Mile
The YMCA Harrisburg Mile is a city-wide celebration held in Downtown Harrisburg at Riverfront Park. Established in 1981, this annual event takes place on a flat course along the river. The 2026 edition marks the 45th year of the race and coincides with the 175th anniversary of the YMCA.
The event offers several participation options:
- 1 Mile Run: Timed age group heats with specific schedules displayed on participant bibs.
- Elite Mile: A competitive race requiring qualifying times (e.g., Sub-4:40 for men and Sub-5:30 for women under age 40).
- Fun 1-Mile Walk/Run: A non-timed, non-competitive event featuring a rolling start.
- Half Pint 1/2 Mile: A shorter distance option for younger participants.
- Salute and Survive: A 0.25 mile walk dedicated to honoring veterans and cancer survivors.
- iHeart Radio Corporate Challenge: A team-based event for groups of five coworkers.
- Virtual Mile: An option for participants to complete the distance remotely and receive materials by mail.
Beyond the races, the community gathering at Riverfront Park includes various amenities such as food trucks, a beer garden, a kids' zone, and music. All registered participants receive an event t-shirt, and additional merchandise is available as an add-on during registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
