About the race
The Harriers Pioneer 8K is an annual road race organized by the Prairie Inn Harriers and held at the Saanich Fairgrounds. The event is part of the Vancouver Island Race Series and the BC Super Series and has often served as the provincial 8K championships, including being the BC 8K Road Race Championship in 2022 and 2023. The course runs in a rural, low traffic area and is described as fast with gentle rolling terrain.
The race is scheduled back at the Saanich Fairgrounds for 2026 and represents the first road race of the year in Canada within the series. Team entries are accepted with a minimum of five members. Entry fees noted for the event are $40 for early registration and $50 for late registration, with early registration dates running from October 9, 2026 to December 8, 2026. Post race food provision includes pizza, dairy items, cookies and beverages.
