About the race
The 42nd edition of the Harriers Gunner Shaw Classic is a late November trail race held at Thetis Lake Regional Park, Victoria, British Columbia. It is listed as Event 2 of 3 in the Harriers Thetis Lake Fall Trail Series and is designated to support the Harriers Foundation.
The course is approximately 10 kilometres on trail with rough, hilly and mucky sections. The route includes roots, rocks, stumps, puddles, branches and boulders; participants should expect wet footing and uneven terrain. The start and finish are located near the park main beach. Parking is available in the main lot at the end of Six Mile Road and the Galloping Goose trail provides an alternative cycling access to the beach.

The event is sanctioned by BC Athletics. Men’s and Women’s divisions are contested in six age categories: 19 and under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59 and 60 and over.
Facilities at the start and finish area include washrooms, change rooms, picnic tables, portable toilets and an area for team tents. On-site refreshments have included grilled pirogies and onions, hot chocolate, fruit, cookies and candies with local donations noted. Proceeds support Harriers Foundation initiatives such as student scholarships and bursaries, athlete travel, youth development and other community projects.
