Event Overview
The Hardmoors 26.2: Goathland is part of a series of trail races located in the North York Moors and along the Cleveland Heritage Coastline. This specific event takes place in Goathland and offers three distinct distances for participants. All routes are circular and start at Goathland Village Hall.
Distances and Age Requirements
The event features the following distances:
- Trail Marathon: 27.5 miles with 4800 feet of ascent. Open to participants 18 years and older.
- Half Marathon: Open to participants 16 years and older.
- Trail 10k: Open to participants 10 years and older.
Navigation and Course Conditions
These races are not taped or signed. Participants are responsible for their own navigation and must carry a printed race route map and a written route description throughout the event. Due to the winter timing and the potential for difficult weather conditions, specific safety equipment is mandatory for all runners.
Mandatory Kit List
All participants must carry or wear the following items for the duration of the race:
- Waterproof jacket with taped seams
- Hat and gloves
- Whistle and a spare long-sleeved top
- At least 500ml of water or sports drink
- Foil blanket and a survival bag
- Printed map and route description
- Head torch or torch (required for Marathon distance)
- Method to attach the race bib (safety pins or race belt)
Event Rules
The Trail Marathon has a time limit of 9 hours, while the Half Marathon must be completed within 6 hours and the 10k within 4 hours. No dogs are permitted at this event.
