Event Overview
Hallucination is a multi-duration trail running event held at Johns Island County Park, located just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. Participants run a 2.6-mile loop as many times as possible within a specific time limit. The event features a cross-country style course on smooth, shaded trails. While the path includes some roots, it is designed as a wide-open loop to facilitate consistent mileage.
Participants can choose from four distinct time options:
- 34 Hour
- 24 Hour
- 12 Hour
- 6 Hour
Logistics and Amenities
The course is designed so that runners pass the start/finish line, the camping area, and the on-site bathhouse after every 2.6-mile lap. There is one fully stocked aid station at the start/finish area providing water, hydration mixes, coffee, and various snacks. As a cupless event, participants must bring their own bottles or hydration packs. Hot meals are prepared on-site throughout the weekend, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.
Camping and Facilities
Registration includes primitive camping with access to the bathhouse. Runners may set up tents, canopies, or cars along the course. RV camping with water and electricity hookups is available for an additional fee and requires advance registration. For those participating in the 12-hour, 24-hour, or 34-hour events, headlamps or waist lights are mandatory for safety during night hours.
Awards
All participants who complete at least one lap receive a finisher's medal. Those who reach the 100-mile milestone are awarded a specialized belt buckle. Awards are also presented to the top three male and female finishers in each time category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
