HALFROX Illawarra : UniActive
HALFROX Illawarra is a HYROX style simulation event held at the UniActive Sports Hub, University of Wollongong. The event offers solo, relay and youth categories, and features a modified race format that alternates running on synthetic hockey turf with indoor strength or erg stations in the Sports Hub Arena.
Participants complete six repeated blocks consisting of a 500 m run followed by a station. The stations and loads are:
- 500 m run then Ski Erg 500 m
- 500 m run then Burpee Broad Jumps 40 m
- 500 m run then Row 500 m
- 500 m run then Farmers Carry 100 m with male 24 kg female 16 kg
- 500 m run then Walking Lunges 50 m with male 20 kg female 10 kg
- 500 m run then Wall Balls 50 reps with male 6 kg female 4 kg
Relay teams comprise two or three people with each team member completing two or three runs and stations in sequence. There are solo age categories for males and females from 15 years and up, relay categories by team composition, a HYROX Youngstars modified format for younger competitors, and an Elite 12 category for top athletes requiring an expression of interest by 1 September 2026. A portion of each entry fee is donated to Pulse Pantry to support students experiencing financial hardship. Entry fees and youth pricing are published for the event.
