About the race
Wollongong Track Club and Run Havoc present GONG5000, a measured 5 km track race on the Illawarra Criterium Track at Lindsay Maynes Park, Unanderra NSW. The course is a closed, traffic-free 1 km criterium loop run over five laps, described as flat and fast and designed for reliable pacing and clear viewing. The event includes elite and community races, a separate 2 km kids race, chip timing with online results, and prize categories for top male and female finishers plus age groups: 12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Prize money exceeds $5000.
Spectators are welcome free of charge; there will be food vendors, coffee, a recovery station, MC-led entertainment, and a livestream. An eight-week race program is offered with coached track sessions at Beaton Park; normal track access fees apply for those sessions. The venue has ample street parking and is about a 1 km walk from Unanderra train station. Entrants of all ages and experience levels are included under the event’s entry policy.
