Event Overview
The Half Marathon-by-the-Sea is a running event located in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. The course takes participants through the historic downtown area of the community and past fresh water lakes in the neighboring town of Hamilton. While the route primarily uses paved surfaces, there is a section of unpaved road approximately 0.25 miles in length.

Course Details and Logistics
The roads along the route remain open to vehicle traffic during the event, with monitoring provided by the local police department. Runners are required to stay to the side of the road. There are six aid stations positioned along the course providing water and Gatorade at intervals near miles 1, 3, 5, 7.5, 9.5, and 11.5. Portable restrooms are located near miles 3.5 and 9.
Parking is available at several locations near the start and finish area, including Manchester-Essex High School, Manchester Elementary School, Sweeney Park, and the Manchester Tennis Courts and Turf Field. No indoor access to the school buildings is provided, and bag check services are not available.
Awards and Materials
Bib and merchandise pick-up occurs on the day of the race. Award medals are provided to the top three male and female finishers in several age categories, ranging from 19 and Under to 75-79. Scoring is based on gun times in accordance with USATF rules. Participants must collect awards and purchased merchandise from the designated tent on-site, as these items are not mailed after the event.
