Tuscarora Half Ass 25K & 15K
The Tuscarora Half Ass is a trail race held in Colonel Denning State Park and surrounding Tuscarora State Forest near Newville, PA. The event offers two distances and follows rugged forest trails with significant climbing and varied footing.
- 25K: over 4,000 feet vertical gain
- 15K: nearly 2,700 feet vertical gain
The courses share an opening section on well-known park trails before splitting. The 15K includes a notable valley view from Flat Rock Vista. The 25K continues beyond the 15K finish area for an additional roughly 10K loop on the eastern side of the park.
Aid stations on the 15K are located at miles 1.75 (water only), 5, and 7.5. The 25K has aid at miles 1.75 (water only), 5, 7.5, 9.25, 10.5, and 14.5. Stations provide water, an electrolyte option, sweet and salty items, and some vegan options.
Registration closes May 30. The event has a strict permit limit of 120 total participants and will use a waitlist if capacity fills; race-day registration is possible only if the field is not full. The organizers do not include shirts or standard swag with registration but will award first-place overall male and female in both distances. Spectator access is limited; the area near Mile 9 by the start/finish is recommended for cheering.
