Tuscarora Half Ass 25K & 15K
The Tuscarora Half Ass is a pair of trail races near Newville, PA, held on trails in Colonel Denning State Park and Tuscarora State Forest. Two distances are offered:
- 15K
- 25K
Both races start on the same opening route before the courses split. The opening miles include early climbing and varied, technical footing on park trails. The 15K includes about 2,700 feet of elevation gain and features a valley view at Flat Rock Vista. The 25K includes over 4,000 feet of vertical gain and continues beyond the 15K finish area for an additional 10K loop on the eastern side of the park.
Aid stations are placed along each course. The 15K has aid at miles 1.75 (water only), 5, and 7.5. The 25K has aid at miles 1.75 (water only), 5, 7.5, 9.25, 10.5, and 14.5. Stations provide water, an electrolyte option, sweet and salty choices, and some vegan options. There is a hard course cut off of 3:00 PM for all runners, and 25K runners must reach Mile 7.5 by 11:00 AM.
Registration is limited to 120 participants by permit. Online registration closes May 30, and a waitlist may be used through May 31 if capacity is reached. Race day sign ups are possible only if the field is under capacity. Registration does not include a race shirt or standard swag bag. Awards will be presented to the first overall male and female finishers in each distance. Spectator access is limited by trail access; Mile 9 near the start and finish area is recommended for viewing. The event is presented by Meatball Runners.
