Event
Hair of the Dog is a 5k run/walk held on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in Saugatuck, Michigan. The event includes three race categories: a 5k Run/Walk - Adult, a 5k Run/Walk - Adult and Dog, and a 5k Run/Walk - Youth (12 and under). Age eligibility is listed as 13-100 for the adult categories and 1-12 for the youth category. Entry fees are $35 for the adult event, $40 for the adult-and-dog event, and $15 for the youth event. All proceeds will go to the Saugatuck Education Association for scholarships for children in pre-school through 12th grade.

Race-day packet pickup and in-person registration are available at Spectators, with materials available starting at 11:00am on January 1, 2026. Online registration deadlines vary by category and are listed through late December 2025 and on January 1, 2026 for the adult event.
Participant items and post-race
Participants receive a commemorative pint glass before the run. After the run, each participant receives a free beer or root beer and a choice of a free bowl of chili in red, white chicken, or vegetarian options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
