Gunpowder Trailfest - May 9, 2026
Gunpowder Trailfest is a trail running and outdoor event held at Cromwell Valley Park in Parkville, MD, at 2002 Cromwell Bridge Rd. The event is organized by the Baltimore Road Runners Club to benefit the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, Cromwell Valley Park, and TALMAR. Proceeds support land protection, waterway restoration, and local conservation efforts.
The event offers multiple course options on mostly single-track trails with a mix of rolling hills, some flats, and occasional climbs. The 12.5k course is a single loop; 25k participants run the loop twice and receive an official finishing time for either distance. The terrain is described as runnable with some technical sections and is intended for participants with some trail experience.
The 5k course uses less challenging trails and includes activities for younger participants at each mile marker. Children collect stamps in an Explore Passport and receive a prize upon completing the loop.
