Gunpowder Trailfest - Parkville, MD
Gunpowder Trailfest takes place at Cromwell Valley Park in Parkville, Maryland on May 9, 2026. The event brings together runners, hikers, walkers and families to experience trails within the Gunpowder Watershed and to support local conservation efforts.
The Baltimore Road Runners Club organizes the event to benefit the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, Cromwell Valley Park and TALMAR. Proceeds will support the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy's work to protect land, restore waterways, and inspire a healthy, sustainable future for local communities, as well as support Cromwell Valley Park and TALMAR.
Trail offerings include mostly single track paths with rolling hills, some flat sections and occasional climbs. The longer distances are best suited for participants with some trail experience. The 12.5k course is a looped route; 25k runners complete the same loop twice and receive an official finishing time for whatever distance they complete.
- 25k: two loops of the 12.5k course.
- 12.5k: one loop of the trail course.
- 5k: shorter loop with activities and family oriented features.
The 5k includes activities at each mile marker where younger participants collect stamps in an Explore Passport and can earn a prize. There are no refunds, bib transfers or deferrals for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
