Event overview
The Groovy Kinder Love event takes place on 5 September 2026 in Hayfield, Peak District, England. The organiser offers a single entry that covers two linked fell races; runners choose which route at number allocation. Registration is at Hayfield Scout Hut (Swallow House Lane, SK22 2HB), with a carpark provided at owners' risk. The event limit is 200 runners and pre-entry and entry-on-the-day are both available (pre-entry fee £10; entry-on-day fee £12).
Race details and rules
- Groovy Kinder Love: 24.5 km / 15.2 miles, climb 1270 m; Category AL; grid ref 034871.
- Groovy Baby Love: 15.5 km / 9.5 miles, climb 650 m; Category BM.
Both races start from Valley Road (electrical substation) and share much of the route before splitting at three points: the Pennine Way junction/Top of Jacob's Ladder, Broad Clough ford, and Benny's Bridge/bottom of Sandy Heys. There is a three hour-thirty (3:30) cut-off at the bottom of Sandy Heys; runners timed out there may be allowed to follow the baby route to rejoin the final descent. Much of the course is unmarked and crosses SSSI land, so navigational skill and prior experience are required. A 100% kit check is enforced; mandatory kit includes waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams, hat and gloves, compass and suitable map, whistle and emergency food. Competitors are responsible for their own navigation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
