About the race
The Griffin Challenge is a six hour, self-paced running event held from Braybrooke Taproom near Market Harborough. Participants complete as many laps as they wish within the time limit; a single lap is described as a 3.3-mile out-and-back (just over 5k). The event allows running, hiking or walking and gives lap-based distances such as a half marathon or marathon depending on laps completed.
The course follows the Griffin Trail and the Brampton Valley Way. Most of the route is on well maintained crushed-stone paths, with a recently resurfaced section and a short grassy section of about 100 metres. The terrain is relatively flat with gentle climbs on the outward sections. Most of the course is exposed rather than under tree cover, offering uninterrupted views.
Facilities at Braybrooke Taproom include free parking and onsite toilets. The Taproom will be open after the event for pastries, cakes, coffees and drinks. The location is close to Market Harborough and is a short drive from Junction 3 of the A14; the nearest train station is Market Harborough.
Entry uses tiered pricing with earlier entries offered at a lower price; there is no booking fee. Unaffiliated entrants pay a small extra fee. The event supports Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity as an optional fundraising opportunity. Dogs are not permitted and the event is suitable for rucking.
