Griffin Challenge
The Griffin Challenge is a six hour endurance event held from Braybrooke Taproom near Market Harborough, LE16 8LJ. The course runs along the Griffin Trail and the Brampton Valley Way on well maintained crushed stone; the Griffin Trail has recently been resurfaced. There is a short grass section of about 100 m. The route is relatively flat with gentle climbs and is largely exposed rather than under tree cover, offering open views across arable fields.
The format is a timed event in which participants complete repeated laps of a 3.3 mile out and back from the Taproom. One lap produces a course distance of just over 5 km; participants may complete as many laps as they wish within the six hour limit. The organiser notes that a half marathon equates to four laps and a marathon to eight laps. A GPX file for the route is available and the route may be subject to last minute changes; markings will be provided on the day.
Facilities at Braybrooke Taproom include free parking, onsite toilets and a taproom serving pastries, cakes, coffee and beer after the event. The event is the first time this course is used by the organiser. Dogs are not permitted and rucking is allowed. There is a charity partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and entrants may opt to raise funds or donate, with 100 percent of donations directed to the charity.
