Event format
The Griffin Challenge is a six-hour timed running event based at Braybrooke Taproom, Market Harborough (LE16 8LJ). Participants complete repeated out-and-back laps from the Taproom and may run, walk or ruck within the time limit. Dogs are not allowed.
- One lap: 3.3 miles (out and back)
- Half marathon: 4 laps
- Marathon: 8 laps
- Possible distance: 50+ miles within six hours, depending on how many laps are completed
Course and facilities
The route follows the Griffin Trail and Brampton Valley Way on mostly crushed stone surfaces, with a recently resurfaced section and a short grass section of about 100 m. The course is relatively flat with gentle climbs and is mostly open rather than tree covered. Parking is free and there are toilets onsite. The Taproom will be open after the event for pastries, cakes, coffees and beer. The nearest train station is Market Harborough and the Taproom is about 7 minutes from Junction 3 of the A14.
Entry, route files and extras
Entry uses tiered pricing: before 03/05/2026 the fee is £37, after that it is £42; unaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. There is no booking fee. A GPX file of the route is available. Participants can opt to donate to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity; donations given during sign-up are passed 100% to the charity. There is an on-demand option via the event partner that includes posting the event medal, and an alternative tree token is available that results in a tree being planted and contains wildflower seeds.
