Event Overview
The Greenfield Triathlon is an established multi-sport event held in Greenfield, Massachusetts. As the longest-running triathlon in New England, the competition is situated in Franklin County and utilizes the local landscape for its three disciplines. The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT) and serves as a host for the Massachusetts Senior Games (MASG), acting as a qualifying event for the National Senior Games.
Course Details
The triathlon features two primary distances, available for individual athletes and teams of two or three people:
- International Distance: Includes a 0.63-mile swim in the Green River, a 30.28-mile bike ride consisting of four loops through rural roads, and a 6.5-mile run passing through the Historic Eunice Williams Covered Bridge.
- Sprint Distance: Consists of a 0.31-mile swim, a 15.14-mile two-loop bike course, and a 3.08-mile run.
The swim takes place in the Green River, starting from a beach area. The bike portion traverses rolling hills and countryside farms on paved back roads. The run course is out-and-back, primarily on roads such as Nash's Mill Road and Plain Road.
