Montague Mug Race
The 43rd Montague Mug Race takes place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Montague Center Common, 4 North Street, Montague, MA. The event distance is 5.5 miles and the starting line is at the northeast corner of the Village Green.
The course runs south down Main Street to Old Sunderland Road. Around the first mile the route climbs to the top of Taylor Hill, then descends to a flatter section that includes a partial dirt road alongside the Connecticut River. Shortly after mile three the course makes a hairpin turn up onto Old Sunderland Road, continues past the fire station, and turns left onto School Street. The final segment runs downhill to a flat, shaded, wooded finish on Station Street. The race does not finish at the Village Green to provide a traffic free finish area.
The event provides multiple water stops and has Fire and EMS personnel on the course. Entry fees are listed as $25 for pre-registration and $30 for day of registration.
