About the race
The AJ Bell Great South Run is a road race of 10 mile distance held in Portsmouth on the south coast. The course runs along the seafront and passes local landmarks, offering extended coastal views. The organiser describes the route as fairly flat and fast.
Race numbers contain timing chips and are posted to competitors from about four weeks before the event; last-minute and overseas entries must collect a number from the information point, which is staffed on the day before and the day of the race. Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may move to a slower wave by assembling with that wave, but they may not move to a faster wave.
Event services include baggage buses located in a marquee on Castle Field, with collection using the competitor race number, official event day photographers and option to view and purchase photos, and a finisher medal plus an optional finisher t-shirt and a finisher bag. An official event app provides live tracking, split times and results and there are free training plans and race-specific guidance provided ahead of the event.
A booking fee is applied at checkout. Filming, streaming or taking photographs is not permitted within the naval base. Minimum entry age is 16 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
