Great South Run
The AJ Bell Great South Run is a 10 mile road running event in Portsmouth. The course runs along the South Coast with sea views and passes several city landmarks including HMS Victory. The route is described as fairly flat and fast.
Participants must be aged 16 or over on the day. Race numbers are personalised with each runner’s name and include a timing chip; race numbers are posted from about four weeks before the event. Late or overseas entries must collect their number from the information point. Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may assemble with a later wave to move to a slower start but cannot move to a faster wave.
Baggage buses are provided in a marquee on Castle Field; runners must attach the baggage label from their race number and use the race number to collect bags after the run. Filming, streaming and photography are not permitted within the naval base.
Finishers receive a medal, an exclusive event t-shirt and a finisher’s bag. Official event day photos are available to view and purchase. Event-day tracking, live results and photos are available through the organiser’s free app. Free 10-mile training plans and additional pre-event information are provided in the build-up to the run.
