AJ Bell Great South Run
The AJ Bell Great South Run is a 10 mile road race held in Portsmouth on 18 October 2026. The course starts and finishes on the north end of Avenue De Caen and runs along the seafront, passing several city landmarks and offering sea views. The route is described as fairly flat and comparatively fast.
The event uses a wave start system. Runners may move to a slower wave by assembling with that wave on the day; it is not possible to move to a faster wave. Race numbers include a timing chip and are despatched from about four weeks before the event; last-minute and overseas entries must collect numbers from the event information point. Baggage buses are located in a marquee on Castle Field, and baggage labels should be attached before arrival.
Entry requirements and charges include a minimum age of 16 for the 10 mile race and a booking fee of £3.00 per entry. Filming, streaming, and photographing are restricted within the naval base.
Event services include a free Great Run event-day tracking app with split times and photos, free 10-mile training plans and advice, official event day photos for purchase, a finisher medal, an optional finishers t-shirt and a finisher’s bag, and partner discounts available after the event.
