- Half marathon (13.1 miles)
The first two miles, miles 5 to 8, and the final stretch from mile 12 to 13.1 are primarily downhill. The section between miles 8 and 12 includes several uphill stretches. Supporters, music, and entertainment are located at various points along the entire route.
Participants receive a timing chip embedded in their race number, which is sent out approximately four weeks before the event. Facilities include baggage buses at the start for item storage, which can be collected at the finish in South Shields. The event includes an event village and an "Après Run Zone" at the finish area featuring food and drink vendors, exhibitors, and entertainment.
Finishers are awarded a medal. For those who do not secure a spot via the ballot, charity places are available through various partner organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
