AJ Bell Great North 5k
The AJ Bell Great North 5k is a Friday evening, flat 5k run around Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside that serves as the curtain raiser to the North East's Great North Run weekend. The course starts in the same iconic spot as previous years, crosses both the Swing Bridge and Millennium Bridge, and finishes on a grandstand by the River Tyne. The route has a small change this year and may be subject to further change.
Entries are open to runners aged 14 and over on the day of the event. A booking fee of £3 is applied at checkout. Published entry prices include a standard entry fee of £28 and a final entry fee of £30.
Finishers receive a bespoke medal and may choose an exclusive event day t shirt. If a runner opts out of the finisher t shirt at entry, a portion of the fulfilment costs will be donated to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal. The event also offers event photos, a personalised run number, partner discounts via a rewards platform, and free training resources and support up to event day.
Temporary road closures, car park closures, and parking restrictions will affect the Quayside and nearby streets on event day. Travel to the start may be affected and public transport options are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
