AJ Bell Great North 5k - 11 September 2026
The AJ Bell Great North 5k is the curtain-raiser for the North East’s weekend of sport. It is a flat 5k route around Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside that crosses the Swing Bridge and the Millennium Bridge and finishes on the Tyne with a grandstand-style finish. The event features local entertainment, music, city views and running past several of Newcastle’s landmarks.
Every finisher receives a bespoke medal and an optional event t-shirt; a finisher pack and official race photos are also available. Run numbers are personalised with the runner’s name. The event offers training plans and support in the lead up to the race and provides exclusive runner-only discounts that apply for 12 months after entry.
Entries are open to runners aged 14 and over on the day of the event. A booking fee of £3.00 is applied at checkout; advertised entry prices include a Saver price and a final price. The course may be subject to change. Temporary road closures, car park closures and parking restrictions will be in place for the event and public transport options are available. Runners who choose not to receive a finisher tee trigger a donation to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal as part of the event’s fulfilment approach.
