AJ Bell Great North 5k
The AJ Bell Great North 5k takes place on 11 September 2026 along Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside as the curtain raiser for the North East's weekend of sport. The event is a flat 5k route that crosses the Swing Bridge and the Millennium Bridge and finishes on the Tyne with a grandstand finish.
Runners receive a bespoke medal, an optional event day t shirt, and a finishers' pack. Photographers capture action shots on course and finish, and race numbers can be personalised with a name. The event offers free training plans and support in the lead up to race day and provides access to exclusive runner discounts after entry.
Entries are open to runners aged 14 and over on the day. Saver entry and final entry prices are published for the event, and a booking fee is applied at checkout. The organiser has introduced optional finisher t shirts and will make a donation to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal for runners who forgo a t shirt.
