AJ Bell Great North 5k : 11 September 2026
The AJ Bell Great North 5k is a 5k road event held on the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside as the curtain-raiser to the AJ Bell Great North Run. The course starts and finishes on the Quayside and is described as a fast, flat route; the course may be subject to change.
Entry for 2026 is sold out. Participants must be aged 14 or over on the event day. Race numbers include timing chips and are dispatched before the event; late or overseas entries are required to collect numbers at the event information point.
Finishers receive a medal, an optional event day t-shirt, and a finishers' pack. Photos are taken during the run and made available afterwards. Race numbers are personalised with the runner’s name. There are event village facilities close to the city centre, with music and food vendors, and baggage storage is provided at the Live Theatre building on event day.
Additional participant resources include free 5k training plans and route-specific training guidance, a free Great Run app for runner tracking and photos, and access to discounts through the event rewards platform.
