Rock River Canyon

The Rock River Canyon event takes place on trails south of Munising, Michigan. Runners can choose between two distances: a 50K (approximately 31 miles) and a 27K (approximately 16.5 miles). Both races are out-and-back courses on the North Country Trail, starting and finishing at the Valley Spur Lodge.

The 50K route travels through high country and remote river valleys towards the Rock River Canyon Wilderness before returning. Of the total distance, about 26 miles are on single track trail, with the remaining 5 miles on dirt forest road. The course has a total elevation gain of 2,690 feet over 31 miles.

The shorter 27K route is entirely on single track trail. Runners on this distance turn around at the second aid station in AuTrain.

Six aid stations are available along the course, spaced between 4 and 5.4 miles apart. They are accessible by vehicle for spectators. Runners are required to carry a refillable 20oz water bottle or hydration system. Aid stations provide water, Gnarly Fuel2O energy drink, Hammer Energy Gels, and Endurolytes.

The event has a participant limit of 100 runners. All finishers receive a commemorative award, and podium awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. Parking is available at the Valley Spur start/finish area.

The nearest airport is in Marquette, MI, about an hour's drive away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
