Rock River Canyon - Munising, Michigan
Rock River Canyon is a trail running event held June 26, 2027 near Munising, Michigan. The event offers two distances:
- 50K: approx 31 miles, out and back, 26 miles single track, 5 miles dirt road.
- 27K: approx 16.5 miles, out and back, 100% single track, turnaround at AuTrain.
The 50K route follows a section of the North Country Trail from Valley Spur Lodge to the Rock River Canyon Wilderness and back. The course lists 2690 feet of total ascent and descent for the 50K. The 27K records about 414 feet of total elevation gain. Terrain is described as non-technical with frequent ascents and descents over natural single track and forest roads.
Aid stations are vehicle accessible and intended for both runners and spectators. The 50K has six aid stations spaced about 4 to 5.4 miles apart; the 27K has four aid stations. Runners are required to carry a 20 oz water bottle or functional hydration system. Aid stations provide cold water, an electrolyte drink, and snacks including bananas, chips, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and gluten free options.
Additional details: parking at Valley Spur Lodge is available, a tent for drop bags will be provided near start and finish, entrant limit is 100 runners, and registration closes Monday June 21 at 11:59 PM.
