2027 Great Falls 8k and 16k
The event is scheduled for February 28, 2027 in Great Falls Maryland at 11710 MacArthur Blvd. It offers two measured road running distances that run alongside the Potomac River and finish near the park waterfalls. Routes for this edition run north on the C and O Canal path.
Both courses follow the C and O Canal towpath on a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change. Each distance uses an out and back layout. Walkers are welcome and a virtual race option is available. Race registration does not include the park entrance fee.
Participants receive a finisher medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and chip timing. T shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before March 17; additional shirts may be available after on a first come basis. Medal designs are posted the Friday before the race on the organizer social pages. Live results will be available on Athlinks and by QR code at the event, with final results and series points posted the Monday after the race.
Points earned at this event apply to the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance and Back of the Pack Series and to the Winter Series. Awards include top three men and women overall and first and second in the listed age groups. Packet pickup is available at the event and there will be no on site race registration.
