AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run - 2 May 2027
The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run offers two distances through Birmingham city centre and surrounding green spaces. Distances on offer:
- Half marathon
- 10k
Both events start at Centenary Square and finish on Jennens Road into Aston University’s event village. The routes pass city landmarks such as the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul’s Square, the Mailbox, Grand Central at New Street Station, St Martin’s Church, Southside and Digbeth. Half marathon runners continue into south Birmingham, running through Cannon Hill Park, Selly Park and around Edgbaston Stadium before rejoining the 10k course for the finish.
Entries are open to runners aged 15 and over for the 10k and 17 and over for the half marathon. Example entry pricing is shown as Saver and Final entry levels for each distance. Waves are allocated by estimated time; participants may join a slower wave by assembling with that wave but cannot move to a faster wave.
Event services include baggage buses near the start, a race number containing a timing chip which is posted around four weeks before the event, on-course water and facilities, a DJ at the finish, official event photos, a finisher medal and an optional finishers t-shirt. A free Great Run event day app provides live tracking, split times and results. Road closures operate on event day with a rolling programme and will be lifted later the same day.
