AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run : 2 May 2027
The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run offers two road race distances through central Birmingham and nearby green spaces. The event includes both a 10k and a half marathon and runs with start and finish in the city centre, finishing into Aston University’s event village.
- 10k open to runners aged 15+ on event day
- Half marathon open to runners aged 17+ on event day
Both routes pass notable city landmarks such as the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul’s Square, the Mailbox, Grand Central at New Street Station, St Martin’s Church, Southside and Digbeth. Half marathon runners continue into south Birmingham, including Cannon Hill Park, Selly Park and the area around Edgbaston Stadium before rejoining the 10k route for the finish past the Selfridges Building and along Jennens Road.
The course has a mix of inclines and declines with some downward running in the second half of each race. On-course features include music and entertainment, hydration stations, shower and toilet locations, and a DJ at the finish. Practical arrangements include baggage buses near the start, runner numbers with timing chips posted about four weeks before the event, and an information point for late or overseas entries.
A free Great Run event day app provides live tracking, split times, results and access to official event photos. Finishers receive a medal, with an optional finishers t-shirt and access to post-event rewards and partner offers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
