AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run : 02 May 2027
The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run offers city centre road races over two distances. Both events start at Centenary Square and finish on Jennens Road into Aston University’s event village. The course passes several Birmingham landmarks including the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul’s Square, the Mailbox, Grand Central at New Street Station, St Martin’s Church, Southside and Digbeth.
Distances
- Half marathon 21.1 km route through Cannon Hill Park and past Edgbaston Stadium.
- 10k route past the Jewellery Quarter, Grand Central and the Selfridges Building.
The routes include a mix of inclines and declines; both have more downhill running in the second half (miles 8–13 for the half marathon and kilometres 5–8 for the 10k). On-course features listed for race day include music and entertainment, hydration stations, showers and toilets, and a DJ at the finish. Official event photos and results are available via the Great Run event day app and the event website.
Race numbers containing timing chips are usually posted about four weeks before the event; late or overseas entries must collect numbers from the information point. Baggage buses are available near the start. Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may move to a later wave but not to an earlier one. Minimum ages are 15 for the 10k and 17 for the half marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
