Event overview
The Grantown Try Tri takes place in Grantown-on-Spey in the Cairngorms National Park on 17 May 2026. The event accepts individual entrants and team relays and is mainly aimed at novice competitors. Course and distances
The triathlon comprises a pool swim, a road cycle and an off-road run. Distances are:
- 300 m swim (15 lengths of a 20 m pool)
- 16 km cycle (10 miles) on a circuit round the Grantown Braes
- 4.8 km run (3 miles) mainly through Anagach Community Woods
The cycle route is signposted and marshalled by static volunteers, with Inverness Radio volunteer cars providing first-aid support. The swim is supervised by pool officials and a lifeguard. The run route is mainly off road with a few minor road crossings and is signposted and marshalled.
Entry, age rules and safety
Prices for 2026:
- Individual: £35 (early) / £40 (later)
- Team of 2 or 3: £66 (early) / £72 (later)
- Junior team of 2 or 3 (entrants 18 or under): £35
Minimum age for individual entries is 11. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult on the bike route; children under 15 may enter as part of a team. Entrants aged 17 or under must submit a parental consent form on race day. No refunds or substitutions are offered; entrants may arrange their own insurance.
