Back of the Yards 5K Turkey Run
The Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council organizes an annual 5K Turkey Run/Walk in Back of the Yards, Chicago. The event is scheduled for November 15, 2026, with the start located at the historic Union Stockyards Gate (41st Street & Halstead Ave). The course runs through the Stockyard Industrial Park and the surrounding neighborhood.
The event format is a timed 5K run/walk. The race packet includes a commemorative race t-shirt (registrations after October 30, 2026, do not include the shirt), a timed bib, and a medal. Where pricing applies, shown amounts include mandatory charges and fees; a listed registration amount is $40.49, with separate notes of Adults $35 and Children 12 years and under $15 for the stated registration period of August 1 to October 30.
Packet pickup is at the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council, 4555 S. Ashland Ave., Chicago, IL 60609, on November 6 and November 7. Group packet pickups should be arranged in advance with the event organizer.
Transportation notes indicate ride sharing and carpooling are recommended; public transit is available. The #8 Halsted bus stops one block east of the start/finish line. Street parking is available near the start/finish and event materials include suggested parking areas.
