Celebrate Spring and Baseball at the Grand Slamrock
The 5th Annual Grand Slamrock takes place in Fredericksburg at the Virginia Credit Union Stadium. This event combines St. Patrick's Day themes with the start of the baseball season, offering a selection of races for different age groups and interests. The main course is a 5K that is USATF certified, fast, and flat.
Participants have the opportunity to experience a unique finish on the field inside the stadium. During the final sprint, runners can hear their names announced over the loudspeakers and see themselves on the stadium big screen. The event provides convenient parking on-site and various amenities, including stadium bathrooms.
The race lineup includes:
- 5K: Open to participants aged 5 and older. This course is stroller-friendly.
- 1 Mile: Known as the Strike It Lucky 1 Mile, open to ages 4 to 12.
- 1/2 Mile: Known as the Leprechaun Chase, designed for children aged 1 to 6.
All finishers receive custom medals, and those who register by the specified deadline are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Awards are presented to top performers, with the first-place male and female finishers in the 5K and 1 Mile earning the chance to throw out a first pitch at a future baseball game. Post-race activities include a complimentary beer for participants with a photo ID and a pop-up fitness class on the field. Dogs are not permitted in any of the races.
