About the race
The Grand Rapids Triathlon takes place on June 13, 2027, in Ada, Michigan at 1116 Buttrick Ave SE, 49301. The event program includes in-person and virtual options across multiple race formats and distances.
In-person formats offered on the date include triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, relay teams, and swim-only events. Distance formats and typical discipline breakdowns include: Super Sprint with a 300 m swim, 10 k bike, and 2.5 k run; Sprint with a 600 m swim, 20 k bike, and 5 k run; Olympic with a 1500 m swim, 40 k bike, and 10 k run; and Half with a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. Duathlon, aquabike, and swim-only entries follow the same distance scales but omit or rearrange swim or run legs as appropriate. Relay entries are available for two-person and three-person teams for several distance categories.
Minimum age requirements vary by distance: Super Sprint events require age 12 or older, Sprint events require age 14 or older, Olympic events require age 16 or older, and Half distance events require age 18 or older. Registration for in-person events opens on September 23, 2026 and many in-person entries close in October 2026. A virtual option runs throughout June and allows athletes to complete chosen distances on their own; virtual registration remains open through June 12, 2027.
