About the race
The Gothic Mountain Tour on Sunday, February 14, 2027, is a Nordic ski event that circumnavigates Gothic Mountain and is operated as a fundraising race for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit.

- 17.85 miles recreational course
The competitive course begins behind the Crested Butte Community School. The recreational course begins at the Snodgrass Trailhead. Both routes circumnavigate Gothic Mountain and finish on the CB Nordic trail system at the Magic Meadows Yurt.
Per Forest Service permits the race is capped at 200 participants. Registration opens October 15 and the event has historically sold out in January; a waitlist is operated when the field is full. Organizers do not offer entry refunds or transfers between participants and they recommend purchasing Racer Protection at registration.
The event is minimally supported. Aid stations at Gothic Townsite, Top of the World, and Pittsburgh Townsite provide hydration and some nutrition. Race staff will transport one small finish line bag to the Magic Meadows Yurt. The finish is about a mile from the trailhead and free shuttles circulate to return racers to parking areas.
Mandatory gear includes avalanche rescue gear (beacon, shovel, probe) and personal protection items such as water, helmet, neck gaiter or balaclava, and emergency insulation layers. A Colorado Outdoor Search and Rescue card or a current Colorado hunting or fishing license is required to participate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
